Havre Police Department

Tuesday, Aug. 6, residents and friends of Havre are invited to Havre's second National Night Out.

The event is sponsored in conjunction with the Havre Border Patrol Sector, Hill County Sheriff’s Office, Havre Sector of the Montana Highway Patrol, Havre Fire/EMS, the Havre Area National Guard Armory, Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks, Search and Rescue and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police from Regina.

The Havre Police Department welcomes people to join forces with these local law enforcement agencies, as well as thousands of communities, nationwide for the 30th annual National Night Out.

National Night Out, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored locally by the Havre Police Department, will involve more than 15,704 communities from all 50 states, military installations worldwide, U.S. territories and Canadian cities.

In all, 37.5 million people are expected to participate in “America’s Night Out Against Crime." National Night Out is being sponsored in part by Target, a national corporate sponsor.

National Night Out is designed to:

• Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness

• Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts

• Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships

• Send a messages to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

From 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, people are invited to join all Havre area law enforcement agencies on the Student Union Building lawn and driveway at Montana State University-Northern.

Residents are also asked to lock their doors, lock up their cars, and turn porch lights on. There will be a host of agencies and support groups to meet around the SUB. On National Night Out, we invite neighborhoods and Havre residents to join us in "Giving Crime and Drugs a Going Away Party."

There will be a Comfort Cruiser Bicycle to be raffled of. Proceeds will go to the Havre/ Hill County Crime Stoppers.

Tentatively scheduled, Havre Border Patrol Sector will again be landing a Black Hawk helicopter on the SUB lawn for all to view.

FWP will be landing a MD500E helicopter on the SUB lawn.

The Mounted Police will be represented in their Red Serge uniforms — great for photo ops.

Big Willie’s barbecue will be on site for anyone who wishes to have a bite to eat, the price will be a free-will donation, with proceeds benefit the Havre Food Bank.
