The tournament schedule continued this week at Prairie Farms Golf Course, as the annual Havre Public Schools Foundation Blue Pony Scramble was held Sunday.

The event didn’t draw as many teams as in different years, but as a head coach in the Blue Pony system, I’d personally like to thank everyone who did come out for the 18-hole, four-person scramble. To those of us in the Blue Pony family, the support means a great deal.

The team of Kyle Sheppard, Kirk Miller, Katie Wirtzberger and Cal Wirtzberger finished with the best score and took home first-place honors. And I’d also like to point out that a teammate of mine, Andy Carlson, drained a nearly 70-foot putt on the third hole of the day. And though fly fishing is his forte’, it seems Mr. Carlson certainly knows how to putt from long distance.

Meanwhile, there are just two weeks left in men’s league golf at Prairie Farms, and the race for the final eight playoff spots is on. The Tuesday night standings have Wagner Plumbing sitting in first place, while the next nine spots are separated by less than seven points. The Wednesday night standings see Valley Furniture firmly in first place, while the next seven spots are separated by a mere seven points.

Last Tuesday saw former Havre Blue Pony great Gary Wagner fire a 2-under par 34 for low gross. Craig Patrick was low net with a 29.5, while Wagner Plumbing was high team with 25 points. Wagner Plumbing is composed of Dan Wagner, Dan Kiederowski, Russ Earl and Greg Baltrusch.

Last Wednesday night, Jordy Donovan, who currently plays golf for Rocky Mountain College, was low gross with a 34. Jerry Kuhn was low net with a 27.5 and Hi-Line Audio/Video was high team with 21 points. The team was made up of Brian Jenkins, Scott Stockdill, Matt Hedstrom and Brandon Mooney.

The tournament schedule at Prairie Farms resumes Aug. 3 with the annual Northern Montana Hospital FD Foundation Scramble.
