Merrill was born on Sept. 10, 1920, in Hydro, Mont., to Earl and Mabel (Speckwell) Bosworth.  He was raised in Hydro, attending school there.  Following his school years, Merrill enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served his country faithfully for four years.  After returning from his military service, Merrill married his wife, Dorothy, and the couple relocated to Chinook where Merrill worked in the old coal mine.  He began working for Blaine County on the bridge crew, where he worked his way up to the position of bridge foreman before retirement. After Merrill retired, he and Dorothy moved to Havre, where they spent several years together before Dorothy passed on.  Merrill was a quiet man who enjoyed working in his yard and spending time with his beloved wife, Dorothy.

Merrill was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Bosworth; his parents, Earl and Mabel Bosworth; and his brothers, Cyril and Frank Bosworth.

He is survived by his nephew, Dexter Bosworth of Havre; his great-nephew, Leroy (Carly) Bosworth of Fargo, N.D .; and his great-great-niece, Allison Bosworth of Fargo, N.D.
