Library's summer Reading Program winds down

As the Havre-Hill County Library wraps up the yearly Summer Reading Program, we always feel a little pang of longing.

Fall is just around the corner; soon school will start, and the library will be a much quieter place. But don’t worry, the library won’t let the summer slip quietly into the night. Here at the library summer will go out with a bang.

The Summer Reading Program finale extravaganza will be Aug. 7 at 7 p.m.

Puppet duo Bat Honey, based in Missoula, will present their latest show called “Squidbelly.”

As always, this library event is open to the public and it’s free. We will also be giving out prizes to everybody who reached their goal, and prizes for our top readers in each category.

The last day to record reading minutes this year was Friday.

The library staff has been like busy, little bees, adding up our readers’ minutes and signing certificates. There were a total of 308 participants in the Summer Reading Program this year.

Thanks to Pizza Hut, the library gave away hundreds of personal pan pizzas to our readers.

Thanks to Dairy Queen, we were able to have ice cream for breakfast at Storytime.

Thanks to the Great Northern Inn, our entertainment for the wrapup party won’t have to sleep in the library.

And thanks to the Friends of the Havre-Hill County Library, we are able to do this program every summer.

Wednesday, Aug. 14, through Saturday, Aug. 17, the library will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair.

The fair will be open during normal library hours. It’s a great time to pick up a few books and get those wheels turning again before school starts.

Keep a lookout. The results from the Summer Reading Program will be released soon.
