Skylights add hitter

The Montana State University-Northern volleyball team is just a little over a week away from opening its season in Great Falls. And just before training camp opened, the Skylights and head coach Bill Huebsch added a bit more size to the an already talented 2013 recruiting class.

Huebsch recently announced the signing of 6-2 outside hitter Alexis Nelson, who hails from Saskatchewan, Canada.

Nelson received several athletic awards while attending Michael A. Riffel High School, while playing both basketball and volleyball, including winning the Regina Cities Championship in 2011 with the Riffel Royals senior team.

In her last two years, Nelson won back to back 18U Provincials. First in 2011, with Tom Foster and the Cougar Volleyball Club, then again in 2012 playing for Myron Mehler and the Saskatoon Chaos. Her teams placed 12th at Canadian Nationals both years. Nelson played for team Saskatchewan from 2008 to 2011, earning a bronze medal in the 2011 Western Canadian Summer Games, against team Alberta.

Nelson is excited to be moving to Havre and have the opportunity to attend MSU-N while playing the sport she loves. Once she has completed her education Nelson plans to pursue a career in nursing. She is the daughter of Glen Nelson and Eileen Kramchynsky.
