Foundation fundraiser coming soon

The head of the H. Earl Clack Museum funding foundation said its annual night-golf tournament fundraiser is almost set to go, with the foundation committee members prospecting for sponsorships and competitors.

Foundation president Elaine Morse told the museum board members the Shot in the Dark golf tournament is slated for Friday, Aug. 23, at Prairie Farms Golf Course with the theme again a family affair — the teams are supposed to be parents with their children.

“Although you can adopt anybody of any age,” Morse added.

She said in the past, quite a few teams actually were parents with their children, although some others became temporary families for the tournament.

The tournament is a fundraiser for the foundation, which supports the operations of the H. Earl Clack Museum in the Holiday Village Mall and the Wahkpa Chu’gn Buffalo Jump just north of the mall.

Morse said the fundraiser will start with a taco cart, with some events such as a chipping contest and a putting contest held before the actual tournament.

The players again will be using glow-in-the-dark balls for the night-time tournament.

“It’s fun to watch and it’s fun to be in … ,” she said. “Just sitting in the clubhouse and watching the balls, you can see them sailing. It is fun.”

The tournament costs $75 per team.

Morse said the foundation also is continuing to look at different options to provide storage for museum artifacts not on display.

Museum board chair Judi Dritshulas said the switch to winter hours also is just around the corner.

The museum will be closed for Labor Day, Sept. 2, then switch to its winter hours. The museum has closed for Sunday and Monday during its winter schedule, with its hours set for 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
