Havre High golfers get right back on the course

The Havre High golf teams just finished playing 36 holes Monday and Tuesday at the prestigious Great Falls Invitational. But the Ponies are right back out on the course.

Today, the Blue Ponies are playing in the East Glacier Invitational hosted by Browning. The tournament is an 18-hole event held at the East Glacier Lodge Golf Course, and it’s the first of two straight trips to East Glacier for first-year Havre head coach Brett Gilman’s team.

HHS enters today’s tournament fresh off some solid scoring at the Class AA Great Falls Invite, which was held at Anaconda Hills and Eagle Falls. On the boys side, freshmen Kane Gabrielsen and Dustin Haas were both solid in their first-ever varsity event. Sophomore Jeff Miller also played consistent, shooting 85 both days, while Jerod Boles posted the low Havre round with an 82 at Eagle Falls Tuesday. The HHS boys lineup will feature the same five who went to Great Falls earlier this week. Gabrielsen is in the No. 1 spot for Havre, followed by Miller and Haas. Boles will play No. 4 and junior Wyatt Lindbloom is No. 5.

The Ponies will also take the same five girls to East Glacier, led by senior Boston Swensen. She shot the low Havre round in Great Falls, an 87 at Anaconda Hills Monday. Peyton Howard, Randi Gabrielsen, Katie Beck and Nikki Gabrielsen round out the Havre lineup.

Today’s tournament will feature some familiar foes in Lewistown and Browning, but Havre will also compete against teams from Whitefish, Libby and possibly Polson. Even more teams will attend next Friday’s annual Browning Invitational.
