Police look for tips in Havre man's death

Kendall Quinnell death ruled as a homicide

A Havre police officer this morning said law enforcement still is looking for any tips that might help in the investigation of the death of a Havre man in Idaho.

Lt. Aaron Wittmer said Kendall Quinnell, 36, who was found dead Sept. 8 in Shoshone Park in the Idaho Panhandle off Interstate 90, had lived in Havre in the past year, along with staying in other Montana towns including Great Falls and Missoula.

The police are looking for any information people might have about why Quinnell may have been in Idaho or about his death, which the Idaho State Police are investigating as a murder.

People with any information can contact Wittmer at 265-4361.

The Shoshone News Press of Kellogg, Idaho, west of Shoshone Park, reported last week that Quinnell’s sister, Carmen Baker of Havre, contacted the newspaper and said she was told her brother had been shot.

The Havre Daily News was unable to find contact information for Baker by printing deadline this morning.

She said last week that investigators said they had some leads, but not to get her hopes up, the Shoshone News Press reported.

“I don’t know why he was (in Idaho) or how he got there,” Baker told the newspaper.

“I have no idea why this would happen.”

She went on to say her brother has no family members in Idaho and said she did not think Quinnell had any acquaintances in the area.

She told the News-Press she wasn’t aware of anyone who might want to kill her brother.

“He was a very giving, kind-hearted person,” Baker said. “He pretty much got along with everybody.”

Idaho State Police told the Havre Daily Friday afternoon that no more information was available at that time.

‘We are still working on this investigation and are not going to be releasing any further information until we finish it,” Public Information Officer Teresa Baker said. “As for the tips, we would like folks to call the Havre department. The only place we have asked for information is in Havre.”
