Idaho man sentenced in Rocky Boy shooting

A Fort Hall, Idaho, man was sentenced in federal court in Great Falls to more than five years in prison for shooting a woman in the leg when she would not tell him where his girlfriend was.

U.S. Chief District Court Judge Dana Christensen sentenced Creston Kindness, 30, during a hearing in U.S. District Court in Great Falls.

Christensen sentenced Kindness to 63 months in prison followed by three years of probation.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a press release that Kindness, who was on Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation when the crime occurred, became upset when the woman would not tell him where his girlfriend was.

He shot the woman in the leg with a .40 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun. The woman was hospitalized for two days because of her injuries, the press release said.
