Three to perform provost duties

Templeton on paid leave until Jan. 3 resignation

Rosalyn Templeton’s duties as Montana State University-Northern provost and vice chancellor have been divided up between other college officials, Chancellor James Limbaugh said.

So she was placed on leave until the Jan. 3, when her resignation is effective, Limbaugh said.

He made the comments in response to a freedom-of-information request from the Havre Daily News about Templeton’s sudden departure from her post Monday morning.

The newspaper sent an FOI letter to Limbaugh and Jim Potter, director of university relations, after the they refused to comment on her departure.

The Havre Daily News received a response to its request Wednesday.

Templeton submitted her resignation Aug. 20, with “an effective date of January 3,” the response letter says.

“Subsequent to the receipt of said resignation, and through my own evaluation of existing projects and initiatives that needed ongoing leadership after Dr. Templeton’s stated resignation date, I made the decision to assign responsibilities for said projects and initiatives to other staff members in order to provide necessary continuity of leadership. Therefore, Dr. Templeton was placed on leave with pay through her resignation date; said leave began as of 8:00 a.m. Monday, October 21, 2013,” wrote Limbaugh in the response.

Limbaugh told the Northern Student Senate at 4 p.m. Wednesday that Templeton’s former duties are going to fall upon himself and two deans at the college.
