Two honored by garden club for seasonal yards

Above: A Havre yard not to be missed at Halloween, said Bullhook Blossoms Garden Club members, is at 716 2nd Ave., where Donna and Bob Biem reside. Donna has been making Halloween fun for the past six years she estimates. Donna hands out bags of treats, and one year had more than 500 kids. She recalls the city police setting up a patrol car on either side of her place to make sure all the kids made it safely across the busy hilly street.

Belowt: The Bullhook Blossoms Garden Club has chosen the Jim and Autumn Elliot home at 624 17th St. as the October winner for their award for eye-catching yards. For October, Garden Club members picked a Halloween theme. The Elliots have a resident witch and Dracula that occupy the living room until nearer the big day when they are moved to better scare trick-or-treaters, and this year they are joined by a lit-up tombstone that has its own ghoul.
