Swift action during power outage

On Sunday evening, around 6:30 p.m., in Highland Park, as well as a lot of Havre, lost power.

Because of the time change, it was mighty dark outside.

As many residents scurried for flashlights and candles, all of the emergency responders were immediately on the scene and ready to work.

We were concerned how the response would be, being the weekend, we needn't have worried.

Thank you to our police department, and fire department for "protecting and serving," and NorthWestern Energy for getting to the root of the problem and sticking to fixing it despite below freezing temperatures. We marveled at the conscientious workers high above the Hi-Line at the top of the electrical poles and prayed for their safety.

I went outside and talked with the utility crew, and despite all they were doing, they could not have been kinder as I explained we were afraid because my husband is on oxygen and we needed electricity.

They said the problem would be fixed in an hour, or at the most, two, and it was.

Oh, the feeling, when all of the lights came on; even the dog barked for joy.

Havre, a little city on the Hi-Line with a great big heart ... and the BEST neighbors to find anywhere, especially the Wests, Steirs and Flathers … thank you.
