Weekend News: United Way holds raffle at Gary & Leo's Saturday

United Way of Hill County, in the midst of its annual fund drive, is holding a special event Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Gary & Leo’s Fresh Foods.

The organization, which helps fund 12 agencies and organizations in Hill County ranging from Meals on Wheels and Court Appointed Special Advocates to the Hill County Drug Court and Kitty Keepers, is raffling off a $200 shopping cart worth of groceries, including a turkey, at $1 a ticket.

Gary & Leo’s donated half of the groceries in the drawing

United Way is inviting people to stop in, buy a ticket and have a cup of hot chocolate. Children’s prizes, also donated, will be available.

“More than anything, it’s a way to make a presence of what were doing as United Way of Hill County and what our funded partners are doing,” board member Joe Von Stein said.

Information about United Way of Hill County, and pledge forms, will be available at the table.

People need not be present to win, and presale tickets are available from United Way board members or at the United Way office at 130 5th Ave. in Havre. The drawing will be held at 6 p.m.
