Lights beat Orediggers in a thriller; Skylights cruise in Butte

The Montana State University-Northern men's basketball team was on the ropes Friday night in Butte. But the Lights had some magic up their sleeve. It took two overtimes, but Northern defeated the host Orediggers 83-82. Trailing 82-81 with :04 left in the second overtime, MSU-N senior Roshawn West nailed a game-winning shot for the Lights. Tech was left with just :01 after West's shot and the Lights (4-2, 16-4) escaped Butte with a much-needed win.

Meanwhile, the 15th-ranked Skylights were in command against the Diggers' the whole way. Behind 13 points from Rachelle Bennett, the Skylights (5-1, 15-3) never trailed in a 58-42 win Friday night.

Both Northern squads are in Helena Saturday night to face Carroll College.
