Local Bowling Report: Junior-Adult No-Tap League begins Monday

Ten Pin Chatter

The Junior-Adult No-Tap League will make its debut Monday, Jan. 27, at 7 p.m. Bowlers are asked to be there by 6:30 as there are still a couple of spots to be filled. Anyone wanting to bowl in a short-season fun league can call Hi-Line Lanes at 265-5885.

Sunday, Lyle Surber missed perfection by leaving a stubborn 10 pin for a 299 game. This was his first honor score this season.

For those of you who have been watching the P.B.A. Tour and have noticed a blue tint on the lanes, it is designed to show the viewers and fans how a pattern is put down. It is still in the experimental stage and no one knows if and when it will be available to the league bowlers. Also in the mix is the innovation and designing of a lane where the proprietor and lane man would never have to apply oil to the surface. But it’s unclear how many, if any, present-day bowlers will be around to experience it.

BOWLING TRIVIA: Back in the early 1950s the beer of choice for most bowlers was Pabst Blue Ribbon. My, how times have changed.
