Bears lands five on 9C All-Conference list

It was a big year for District 9C boys basketball. After all, the Class C state champion came out of the 9C ranks in the form of the Box Elder Bears. And rightfully so, the Bears had the most postseason honors of any 9C team.

But there was plenty of good basketball throughout the 9C, and the 2013-14 9C Boys All-Conference Team shows it.

Five Box Elder players earned All-Conference honors for the season, while Chinook had three players named All 9C, Hays-Lodge Pole had two and North Star and Turner each had one.

Box Elder senior Randall Gardipee was named All-Conference for the third straight year. Gardipee was also the MVP of the 2014 Class C state tournament three weeks ago in Butte. Joining Gardipee on the All-Conference roster was sophomore Brandon The Boy, junior Clayton Morsette Jr., senior Thomas Parisian and sophomore Jerrod Four Colors. The Boy, Morsette and Parisian earned All-Conference honors a season ago as well.

Chinook, which was the 9C runner-up this season, saw senior Zach Molyneaux earn 9C honors for the third straight season. Junior Lane Seymour made the list for the second straight season, and sophomore Ian McIntosh was honored for the first time.

Hays-Lodge Pole’s Sterling White Cow, a junior, earned all 9C honors for the second year in a row, while freshman Tyson Shambo was also named to the squad. North Star senior Cooper Spicher and Turner sophomore Brett VanValkenburg also earned 9C honors.

Box Elder head coach Jeremy MacDonald was named 9C Coach of the Year.

As far as All Northern C honors go, which also gives a player Class C All-State honors, five Hi-Line players were selected.

Gardipee was named All Northern C for the second year in a row, and he was joined on the list by The Boy and Morsette Jr. Molyneaux was also an all Northern C selection for the second time in his career, while Chester/J-I’s Justin May also made the list.
