Hubert was born Feb. 7, 1938, in Havre, Mont., the oldest of six children, born to Donald and Frances(Meyer) Golie. He was raised in Havre. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1961. When he came home to Havre he enjoyed "hopping" trains to Whitefish, Mont.  He met his wife-to-be, Mary Jane Higgins, while working at the Brown Ranch south of Havre. They married June 28, 1969. They were blessed with a daughter, JoLynn, in April 1970.  They moved to Butte from Havre so he could work in the mines. They were blessed again with a son, Rusty, in January 1972. He moved his family to Glendive , Mont., in 1977 so he could work in the oil fields. He drove cement trucks out to the oil rigs and enjoyed it very much. This work moved him and his family from Glendive to Havre, then to Tioga, N.D., and back to Chinook. He settled in Chinook doing odd jobs for some time, until his daughter talked him into moving to Elko Nev., to help take care of the grandkids. That was easy - he loved kids and they loved him, with his funny faces and goofy ways. He will be dearly missed.  He spent the last 12 years taking care of the kids until the disease got to the point where they helped take care of him.

He was very passionate about bowling and fishing, his favorite pastimes. He was always willing to help anyone in need and willing to do what others wouldn't.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Mick Golie; and nephew, Michael Golie.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Golie of Spring Creek Nev.; his daughter, JoLynn (Robert) Bruner of Spring Creek Nev.; son, Rusty (Rita) Golie of Havre; grandchildren, Lauryn, Brandon, Austin, Clay, Joseph, Luke, Brett, Thomas, Dorothy Jane and Jason; and great-grandbaby, Blaine.  He is also survived by brothers, Ronald (Dorene) Golie of Lynwood Wash.; Martin Golie of Portland, Ore.; sisters, Sharliene (Clarence) Overby of Gillette Wyo., and Sandra (Jerry) Diamond of Tazewell, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews.
