Lights land star JUCO guard

The Montana State University-Northern men’s basketball team had an outstanding senior class this past season. But with graduation hitting the Lights hard, head coach Shawn Huse is adding new pieces to the puzzle.

Huse recently announced the signing of Warren Edmondson, a 6-2 guard from Vancouver, Washington, by way of Portland Community College.

Edmondson led his team to the NWAACC tournament championship last year and was named all-conference. He averaged 16.5 points per game and shot 41 percent from 3-point range. In a semifinal tournament game he scored 42 points.

“Warren has the capability to provide an instant impact,” Huse said. “He led his team to their first ever trip to what is essentially their National Tournament (NWAACC Tournament)…and then onto their national championship run. He is a very good guard at the two-spot who can also excel at the point position when needed.”

The Lights had five seniors on last year’s team that finished 23-9 overall, 11-5 and second place in the Frontier Conference, and earned their fourth trip in a row — five in six years — to the NAIA National Tournament.
