Roger Marden

Roger Marden, 65, peacefully passed into eternity surrounded by family on May 18, 2014, at Peace Hospice in Great Falls, Montana. Roger was born on Jan. 25, 1949, in Williston, North Dakota, to the late Darel and Marie Marden.

Roger attended St. Joseph's grade school in Williston, until moving to Havre, Montana, in 1961. In Havre, he attended St. Jude's Elementary School through eighth grade. He graduated from Havre High School in 1967. He went on to earn a business degree at the University of Montana in Missoula. Roger was married to Annette Young, and later divorced.

He joined a business partnership with his dad, Darel Marden, owning and operating Marden's Trailer Sales in Havre. He branched out and opened a second Marden's Trailer Sales in Great Falls.Roger garnered many top dealership awards from Jayco, including Runner-up Dealer of the Year Award nationwide. He dedicated his life to the family business and making it successful. Until the time of his passing, he owned and operated these businesses, first with his dad, and then with his brothers, Doug and Steve.

In his spare time, Roger's love of sports was clearly evident. He was very fantasy sports leagues of all kinds. He particularly loved the MSU Bobcats and the Denver Broncos, holding season tickets to the Bobcat games and hosting fantastic tailgate parties before watching every game. He was always supportive of his nieces, nephews and granddaughters sporting activities, whether it be traveling to watch them play and cheering them on, sponsoring them or calling to see how the games went.

Roger was an active member of the Havre Jaycees for many years. Joining them in 1973, he was given the Outstanding First Year Jaycee award. In 1974, he was awarded the Havre Jaycee Director of the Year Award, and, over the years, he received numerous Jaycee of the Month awards. During his service to the Jaycees, Roger held the offices of director, vice president and president. He was a member of the Eagles Club and St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church. Roger was an inspiration to his nieces, nephews, and granddaughters who loved and adored him. His love for family was unending.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Darel and Marie Marden.

He is survived by brothers Allan (Debbie) Marden of Stevensville, Montana, and Douglas and Steven (Ginny) Marden, all of Havre; his sisters, Kristine (Alan) Moe of Florence, Montana, and Karla (Duane) Baney of Stevensville, Montana; his three children, Tracie (Brent) Parrott of Tucson, Arizona, Kevin Marden of Greeley, Colorado, and Dawn (B.J.) Schafer of Fort Collins, Colorado; his three granddaughters, Lauren and Kelly Parrott of Tucson, Arizona, and Dahlanie Schafer of Fort Collins, Colorado; 10 nieces and nephews; and four great-nieces and nephews.

Vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, 2014, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church in Havre, with a memorial Mass at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 23, 2014, also at St. Jude, followed by interment in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Peace Hospice of Montana, 1101 26th Street S., Great Falls, MT 59405, or to the charity of the donor's choice. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements.
