Rocky Boy man drowns at Brown's Reservoir

Thomas Edward Bernard, 24, died at Brown’s Reservoir on Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation Friday.

Hill County Sheriff Don Brostrom said the cause of death was drowning. The Hill County Sheriff’s Office was called to the reservoir after Bernard drowned around 5 p.m. Brostrom said it is not known if alcohol or drugs were involved with the death, but an investigation is being conducted.

Bernard was born in Fort Belknap Indian Reservation and raised on Rocky Boy. He had two children, both of Rocky Boy.

Wake services for Bernard began 5 p.m. Sunday and will continue until his mass at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rocky Boy. He will be buried in the Bernard Family Cemetery.
