Charter customers see Internet, cable, phone outages

For around four and a half hours Sunday, those using Charter Communications' services experienced a loss of secure connection.

The problems began again around 10 a.m. this morning, despite work crews’ efforts to remedy the issue.

Brian Anderson of Charter said at 10:30 this morning he had received notification of the new outage but was not sure yet as to what was causing it.

Kami Yamaguchi, the vice president of Inside Plant and Charter, said the Sunday telecommunications brown-out began around 6 a.m.

"We had a failure of an ONS shelf," Yamaguchi said. "Basically, it's how we pass video traffic, like a switch or a router."

Yamaguchi said there was a lot of troubleshooting to find where the problem was in the esteem until they could address the failure.

Many of those affected by the failure experienced problems accusing websites through their Internet, and complete stoppage of television and telephone services.

Im getting pretty sick of charter, I dont know how many times they have called asking me to get a land line, I am perfectly fine just with my cell, and they hard sell, very pushy, to the point you have to hang up on them. Not only that their on demand shows seem to have problems and errors I dont know how many I have paid for and not watched. Now losing internat and TV seems to be the weekly norm. Might be time for a change, they are awful!
