Three Ponies named Class A All-State

When it comes to the best-of-the-best in Class A football, three Havre Blue Ponies made the cut in 2014.

The 2014 Class A All-State Team was announced earlier this week, and three HHS stars were touted.

For the third time in his prep career, Blue Pony Dane Warp was named All-State at quarterback. In 2014, Warp was joined on the All-State list at QB by two players who the Ponies square off against this season: Whitefish junior Luke May, as well as Mile City’s Alex Haughian.

Warp, who was also the Central A Offensive Player of the Year, was among the top passers in all of Montana high school football this season. He threw for 2,629 yards and 27 touchdowns. He threw just five interceptions all season and had a stellar quarterback rating of 117.

Also on offense, HHS sophomore receiver Parker Filius was named to the All-State team. Filius, who also plays running back and safety for the Ponies, caught 60 passes for 724 yards and seven scores this season. Those numbers were tops in the Central A. Filius also led the Ponies with 272 yards on the ground.

On the defensive side of the ball, senior defensive end Jace Billy was selected to the All-State team for the first time in his HHS career. Billy, who’s also a returning state champion wrestler for the Ponies, had 56 tackles, six sacks and six tackles for loss this season, all team highs.
