Spring Fling a success at Northern

Spring Fling, one of the major fundraisers for Montana State University-Northern athletics, was a success again in its 10th year.

"We had a full house," said Craig Tilleman, president of the board that organizes the event. " ... Time and time again the Havre community and the surrounding towns showed their support for Northern athletics."

Tilleman said he did not have exact numbers for the funds raised at the event, but he was fairly confident that they raised more than they did last year, which was close to $100,000.

The event is put together by the Northern Lights Athletics Scholarship Foundation, the officials of Northern athletics and others.

"We have a wonderful board of diverse people who have the interests of Northern athletics in mind," Tilleman said.

Representatives from across the Hi-Line, including Big Sandy, Chinook, Kremlin and Gildford were present at the fundraiser.

"It's not just a Havre thing, it's a regional thing," Tilleman said.

The money raised by the event is given to the athletic programs to fund scholarships and supplies. Each year, the programs have a budget of funds they need to meet and Spring Fling helps fulfill those needs.
