Fair board picks chair and vice chair

Talks entertainment, grounds manager

The Great Northern Fair Board discussed the fairgrounds manager position and this year’s fair entertainment and also picked a new chairperson and vice chairperson at a meeting held Tuesday.

Alma Seidel was named the chairperson of the board, replacing Bert Corcoran, who died earlier this month. Karla Vaughn was chosen to be vice chairperson.

The fairgrounds manager position was discussed, and it was established that the fairgrounds manager must live on the fairgrounds.

The board collectively agreed to post the job description for the manager job position for two weeks.

Mike Sharp, interim fairgrounds manager, discussed the possibility of country music artist Holly Williams, who is the daughter of Hank Williams Jr., performing the Sunday night of the fair.

“We’ll provide the stage and sound,” he said.

The board collectively agreed to continue moving forward with Williams for the Sunday night show.

The next fair board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 19 at 5:30 p.m. at the Great Northern Fairgrounds.
