United battle in close games on the pitch

The Hi-Line United soccer teams were busy again this past weekend as both the U-19 and

U-14 teams hit the road for a pair of games on Saturday.

The U19 team was in Helena and took on a select squad from Missoula that defeated the United by a score of 8-1 with the lone goal coming from Clifford Lenhardt. Then, in their second game of the day, the United took on Butte and had a much more respectable outcome, losing 2-1. Trey Scofield, who has been on a scoring spree of late, found the back of the net again against Butte, which was the only goal scored by the United in the game.

"To be honest, we didn't play well (in the first game)," United head coach John Harkins said. "We gave up two own goals and gave them another goal after a penalty, But in our game against Butte, we ended up doing a lot better. We were in it the entire game and were hoping that we could get a tie out of it but unfortunately the game ended early because of lightning,"

The U14 team was also in action and dropped both of their matches, falling to Miles City by the score of 7-2 and also to Sidney 10-0. Cole Hanson scored both goals in the loss to Miles City, while Rowland Snyder notched both assists.

"It was a tough weekend," U14 head coach Jayson Burrington said. "All the players on our team are new to competitive soccer. We play against teams who have been playing with each other for several years. We just need to continue to work hard before the state cup."

The U14 team will be in Laurel this Saturday, where they will play Sidney at 11 a.m., and Laurel at 4 p.m. The U19 team will be in Sidney, where it will play Miles City and Sidney at 1:30 p.m. and 4:45 p.m., respectively.
