Havre airport opens back up for business

One runway at the Havre City-County Airport is back open and Cape Air will be continuing its regular schedule.

Saturday, after being closed for 21 days, Cape Air will resume flights.

Terry Knowlton, the airport manager, said both runways should be open Sept. 11, tentatively.

“Things went really well,” Knowlton said Wednesday about the construction. “We got really good weather. They’re out there painting lines now.”

One runway was totally milled out and asphalt was relaid.

Funds were from a city-county match and the federal government paid 90 percent. The project amounted to $3 to $3.2 million....
