While in college, she met John Donaldson, and they married in 1981. The couple moved their family to Havre in 1990. Kathy earned a bachelor's degree in pharmacy in 1996 from the University of Montana. For the past 19 years she worked in pharmacies in Hill and Blaine counties. Most recently, she was employed as a pharmacist at Fort Belknap Indian Health Service Clinic, which she enjoyed immensely.

Kathy enjoyed bird watching, weaving and spending time with her friends and family in Glacier National Park. She loved nature. Her favorite activities included biking and hiking, and she was an avid reader. One of her passions in her field was diabetes research, which she devoted much time and energy to.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Garret and Nellie Lindemulder and Harry and Florence Witt.
