Eagle project is building a parking lot

John Klein and his family have camped and hiked at Beaver Creek Park ever since they moved to Havre from Miles City eight years ago.

"My family and I hike at Beaver Creek all the time," he said. "I like to hike."

Now a freshman at Havre High School, he is working on earning his Eagle Scout badge. For his Eagle Scout project, he wants to give back to the park that has meant so much to him over the years.

He's going to build a gravel parking lot, two picnic tables, a fence, trash receptacles and outhouses in the area near the trail up Mount Otis, one of his favorite spots in the park....
