Hello God...It's me Mara: Lazy Days and Peace

You know, Lord, the second week in August is called National Smile Week!  Also along in that week, someone decided that the 10th should be called Lazy Day. That makes one think about goofing off and definitely not doing any work. With the hot, muggy weather, it makes it easy to kick back and be lazy for a day. If summer chores aren’t done, “So what” a friend said, “Chores can wait for one more day, right?”

He thought spending some time on a hammock, sipping a favorite summer beverage was a great idea, while his neighbor suggested that there are no lazy days, just lazy people. But “Friend” said that reading books is a good thing, too, and a book would accompany him. To read in the shade and relax sounded good to him. It would make him smarter and happier, and he’d be at peace, and what if he fell asleep while reading? That would be OK, too. “That’s all part of being relaxed and being a book lover,” he added.

“If you don’t have a book to read, what’s wrong with watching the white clouds sail by; reminds me of a fleet of merchant sailings ships from long ago paintings,” “Friend” said with a big smile, and suggested: “Look! How peaceful is that? They sail where the wind wills across the summer sky!”

“Friend” was onto something here, telling about lying on one’s back and watching thunderheads lift, roll and move. “Even the wind hunts you up as if you were hiding. Remember last month? And while you’re doing that, doesn’t that also give you the impression of the month fleeing away with the wind?”

2 Thessalonians 3:16: “Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.”

Thank You for Your word on peace, Lord.

Mara
