Booster Club seeks nominations for Dr. Jim Elliott Memorial Award

The Havre High School Booster Club is looking to recognize someone for going above and beyond in supporting high school activities with the Dr. Jim Elliott Award.

Stacy Rismon, president of the Blue Pony Booster Club, said the club wants people to “put on your thinking cap and send us who you would like to nominate and an explanation of why you would like to have them honored with this award.”

The award was established by the family of longtime Havre physician and Havre High School supporter Dr. Jim Elliott, who died in 2000 at the age of 70. The family purchased a plaque that hangs in a trophy case at the Havre High School’s west foyer on which the name of each recipient is engraved.

The first award was presented in 2001 to Wells Lamey, a legendary supporter of Havre Public Schools activities himself. Lamey died in 2015.

Other recipients of the award include Ron Holden, Pat Newell, Chuck Williams, Dave and Pam Wilson, Kathie Newell, Dr. Gerald Olson, Mary Stevens, Noel Henderson, Barry Remus and last year’s recipient, Charlie Klimas.

“The honor of receiving this award is based on volunteerism, along with personal and professional sacrifices made for the betterment of the Blue Pony activities as Dr. Elliott demonstrated year after year,” Rismon said. “This award is intended to be for more than just a fan but for an individual who truly makes an impact on our high school activities and athletics.”

The Booster Club selects the recipient of the award from the list of people nominated. Current Havre Public School employees or Havre Public School Foundation or Blue Pony Booster Club current board members are not eligible.

People should send nominations to Blue Pony Booster Club, PO Box 704, Havre, MT 595901 by Nov. 8. People cancontact Rismon at [email protected] for more information.

“Join us for the presentation of the Dr. Jim Elliott Memorial Award during a Blue Pony basketball game,” Rismon said. “We are very please to present this award and want to thank all of you for your support of the activities and athletics of all students of Havre High School.”
