Samuel K. Mathwich

Samuel K. Mathwich, 35, passed away at his residence due to natural causes Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016.

Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016, at Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. His funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, 2016, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church with Father Dan Wathen officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.

Sam's family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Havre High School Activities Fund, 900 18th St., Havre, MT 59501, to Eagle Mount of Great Falls, PO Box 2866, Great Falls, MT 59403, or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements.

Sam was born Dec. 20, 1980, in Havre, to Gary and Helen (Artz) Mathwich. He was raised in Havre, graduating from Havre High School in 2000. He attended Montana State University-Northern for a short time while he worked for Call Solutions and as a webcam operator and a snack booth clerk, both at MSU-Northern. In 2003, Sam relocated to Great Falls where he worked for Carmike Theatres, the Goodwill Thrift Store, and Easter Seals until 2008, when his health forced him to stop working.

Sam enjoyed sit-skiing, listening to all types of music and watching Griz and Denver Broncos games. He loved dogs, especially his family dogs, Jake and Spike, and Pepsi was his favorite beverage. Sam adored his family, especially his sister and his niece and nephew.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Kurt and Margaret Mathwich; his maternal grandparents, Aloysius and Marcella Artz; his cousin Kevin Hill; and his uncle Neil Artz.

Sam is survived by his parents, Gary and Helen Mathwich of Havre; his sister, Sarah (John) Elkins of West Fargo, North Dakota; his niece, Alexia Elkins; his nephew, Mason Elkins; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
