Rocky Boy sets special election for Jan. 10

Nine candidates will compete in a special election Jan. 10 to fill an open seat on the Chippewa Cree Business Committee, attorney general for the tribe LeAnn Montes said Tuesday.

Michelle Billy, Daryl Wright II, Melvin “Junior” Morsette, Dustin J. Whitford, Donovan Stump, Jolene Crebs, Michael “Big Mike” Corcoran, Laurie Sunchild and Russell Standing Rock will be on the ballot.

Montes said the person who garners the most votes will win the seat that had been held by Harlan Gopher Baker. Baker resigned the seat in November after he was elected chair of the Chippewa Cree Business...
