Tester answers questions in online town hall

U.S. Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont., engaged his constituents from across the state Wedensday by hosting an online town hall via Facebook Live.

The Senator took questions from dozens of Montanans, responding to questions submitted via e-mail and through the live comments section. 

“I encourage all Montanans to share their opinions with me,” Tester said.  “With modern technology it’s easier than ever before to engage constituents. I appreciated the tough and fair questions and look forward to continuing to engage Montanans and working together to ensure our state stays the Last Best Place.”

Tester touched on questions about health care, the spirit of bipartisanship, veterans care, energy policy, NAFTA, the President’s ties to Russia, and many other topics. More than 15,000 users logged on to watch and participate over the course of 51 minutes.

Questions came in from across Montana:

“What actions can we as Montana citizens take to make our concerns and voices heard most effectively?” Louise from Bozeman asked.

“How do you plan on defending Montana’s coal industry and the hardworking people that depend on it to support their families and those who depend on the reliable, affordable electricity produced from Montana coal?” Lori from Colstrip asked.

“How do you propose we deal with our nation’s debt?” Evan from Billings asked.

This was the Senator’s second online town hall and reached more than 380,000 people, received 1,800 comments, and was shared more than 200 times.
