Local meeting set for Thursday with area legislators

Press release

Local residents have a chance to talk to their state lawmakers face-to-face this week.

Bear Paw Development Corp. and the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce have partnered to sponsor a meeting with area legislators during this week’s transmittal break of the Montana Legislature.

The meeting is scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m. in Bear Paw Development’s Large Conference Room on the second floor of the Ryan Building, located at 48 Second Avenue in downtown Havre.

“During this mid-session break from all the work in Helena, we thought it would be a great opportunity for our area legislators to report on their activities and to also receive input from residents and constituents back home here in northern Montana,” said Debbie Vandeberg, executive director of the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce. “There are a lot of important issues being considered in the Legislature this year, and this is an outstanding opportunity to engage in dialogue about policies and legislation that impact our area.”

Invitations to participate in the transmittal meeting are being extended to representatives and senators who represent all or part of Bear Paw Development’s region of Liberty, Hill, Blaine, Phillips and Chouteau counties.

“We hope folks take advantage of this opportunity to communicate with their elected legislators concerning issues that matter to our region, and also to hear what’s been taking place in Helena over the past couple of months,” said Paul Tuss, executive director of Bear Paw Development.  “We have very accessible elected leaders in Montana, and this mid-session break is just one more way to communicate about what’s important.”
