Quist victory no threat to gun rights

Editor,

Special election candidate Rob Quist is quickly filling the hopeful Democratic, independent and moderate GOP counter to Greg Gianforte a corporatist outsider with a far-right wing neo-conservative agenda. Now, Mr. Quist, a gun owner who grew up on a ranch and wheat farm near Cut Bank is being wrongfully attacked on his Second Amendment stances by the GOP and New Jersey native Greg Gianforte.

From the right , Quist is criticized for wanting to register all of your guns. These attacks by Mr. Gianforte and the GOP are downright blatant lies. Mr. Quist does not want to take your guns and melt them down at the local smelter as the GOP likes to tell you. Like 75 percent of all Americans Mr. Quist is for sensible gun laws and keeping guns out of the hands of the mentally unstable and violent criminals. Like Mr. Gianforte, Mr. Quist believes our current gun laws in Montana are sufficient as is.

Yet again, the GOP is using alternative facts to gain an upper leg in an important election.

As an outdoor enthusiast, a conservationist and supporter of the Second Amendment, I wholeheartedly endorse Rob Quists’ candidacy for our one and only Montana U.S. House seat, and I urge anyone out there who may be thinking about the election to look at Rob’s life-long stances on guns.

If you, like me, enjoy a walk in the woods with your bird dog and rifle, a Quist victory is absolutely no threat. Mark your calendars — special election day is May 25.
