Hi-Line Athletes of the Week

Alex Barkus, Havre High Softball

Havre High's Alex Barkus is one of the Blue Ponies' top pitchers on the softball field. But, she also showed her prowess at the plate last Saturday in Livingston. In Havre's 10-6 win over the Rangers, Barkus went 4-for-4 with four runs batted in to help the Ponies get a key Central A victory. She also pitched an outstanding game in the second bout of the doubleheader. Barkus, a HHS volleyball player in the fall, also had a no-hitter earlier this spring against Browning.

Damon Adams, Harlem Track

Harlem's Damon Adams is fast. And he proved it again at Saturday's Lewistown Invitational. Adams won the 100, 200 and 400-meter dashes at the meet. He finished the 100 in 11.77, the 200 in 23.68 and the 400 in 51.78 as the Wildcats were once again strong. Adams, who was an All-State sprinter a season ago as a junior, was also a standout running back and linebacker for the Harlem football team this past fall, as well as a stellar guard on the Wildcats' basketball team this past winter.
