MAT holding auditions for 'Steel Magnolias'

Havre’s acting troupe is holding auditions for a classic play about a group of women — friends in a small southern town — and how they deal with one of their own dying partway through the story.

Auditions for the Montana Actors’ Theatre production of Robert Harland’s 1987 play “Steel Magnolias” are Monday, May 15, and Tuesday, May 16, at 7 p.m. in the Little Theatre in Cowan Hall on the Montana State University-Nothern campus.

The auditions are for roles for six women.

The play was converted to the screen in 1989 in a film of the same name starring Sally Field, Dolly Parton, Shirley MacLaine, Olympia Dukakis, Daryl Hannah and Julia Roberts,
