Veis, Sibley headline Fort Peck theaters' season opener

‘Arsenic and Old Lace’ opens tonight

From Fort Peck Summer Theatre

One of America’s most popular dark comedies returns to the Fort Peck stage: “Arsenic and Old Lace.” Laughs ensue, as a pair of lovable, spinster sisters “assist” lonely elderly gentlemen by serving homemade elderberry wine laced with arsenic. The dynamic cast is stacked full of audience favorites, led by Pam Veis and Pat Sibley, as The Brewster Sisters.

Veis has starred in many Fort Peck productions, including “Driving Miss Daisy,” “Always….Patsy Cline” and “Steel Magnolias.” Sibley previously played Ouiser in Fort Peck’s “Steel Magnolias,” and came to Fort Peck after performing with Artistic Director Andy Meyers in the National Broadway tour of “Annie.”

Jay Michael Roberts co-stars as Mortimer, and also serves as scenic designer, creating an expansive Gothic Victorian manor. Roberts recently designed the new historic wing at Glasgow’s Pioneer Museum. Mary Ohm makes her Fort Peck debut as Mortimer’s fiancé, Elaine.

Completing the cast are returning company members Dan Hance, Sydney Hayward, Stephen Hohendorf, Martin Holt, Andy Meyers, Jacob Nalley, Jamie Parnell and Jon Svingen. Geoff Belliston of Phoenix, Meggie Seigrist of New Jersey and David Hopson of Wolf Point make their Fort Peck debuts in the cast of “Arsenic and Old Lace.”

“Arsenic and Old Lace” is directed by Heather Adams, who previously directed or choreographed, or both, Fort Peck’s “Mary Poppins,” “Always…Patsy Cline,” “A Grand Night for Singing” and “The Music Man.”
