Hello God. It's me, Mara

The full moon

You know, Lord, sometimes we forget about the incredible world we live in. the expanse of space is truly overwhelming. For some of us, the splendor of mountain peaks simply takes our breath away — how awesome. Oh, on and on we could go, describing all the beautiful, magnificent, awe-inspiring wonders of the universe. One more, how about views of the full glorious moon — barring a cloudy night?

A recent blurb about full moons gave a variety of names and meanings. Author is unknown but mentioned that different full moon names can be found among the Chinese, Celtic, Old English, New Guinea and Native American tribes. Full moon names were used to identify the entire month during which each occurred.

Since we’re into June, did we all know that the full moon this month is called the Strawberry Moon? Some of us maybe did or do pick strawberries this season, which is when strawberries supposedly reach their peak. The ones in this garden aren’t quite ready yet, but there is hope for yummy strawberry jam and delicious strawberry pie.

Long ago when we were little kids, we went on a trip in June to visit relatives. Since, back home we didn’t have strawberries in our garden, it was a special treat when the cousins included us when they were sent out to pick strawberries. But we were first given a lesson or two about how to do it. And yes, we got to nibble some as we picked.

Reading Psalm 104:19: “He (God) appointed the moon for seasons.” And Psalm 72:7: “In His days the righteous shall flourish, and abundance of peace, until the moon is no more.” When we think about the variety, the order, the symmetry, and the unexpected, we know that it all testifies to God, the Genius behind it all. Thank You, Lord, for the Strawberry Moon this week.

Love, Mara
