Havre All-Stars play great baseball at 10U Regional

This summer has been an exciting one of the Havre 10U All Stars. Last week, the youth baseball team got the opportunity to represent Havre at the Cal Ripken Northwest Regional Tournament in Eugene, Oregon.

The Havre 10U All Stars made it to the regional tournament after winning the 10U East State Tournament in Havre a couple weeks ago and in Oregon the team represented itself well despite posting a record of 0-4 after falling to Black Hills 17-7, Williamette Valley 9-8, Spokane 11-8 and Kennewick 20-1.

The first game for the 10U All Stars was Thursday against Black Hills and, despite holding a 7-5 lead in the fourth inning, Havre ultimately lost to the game 17-7. Bodhy Lassle and Tanner Delarosa both led the way for Havre with two RBIs apiece. Delarosa also added two hits in the loss.

Havre played again that same day against Willamette Valley but lost 9-8 despite a late rally. The 10U All Stars grabbed a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but found themselves down 9-4 after Willamette Valley plated three runs in the first, second and third innings. Yet, Havre scored two runs in the fourth and added another in the fifth and sixth innings to get within one run in its final at bat. Unfortunately, the tying run never came and Havre fell to 0-2 in group play. Delarosa led the way with two hits again, Lassle and Jevin Jenkins each finished with two RBI.

On Friday, Havre needed a win against Spokane to keep its hopes of advancing out of pool play and looked to be on its way after a six-run second gave it a 6-2 advantage. Spokane tied the game in the fifth, but two more runs by Havre made it 8-6 heading into the sixth and final inning. But in the top half of the inning, Spokane scored five runs to grab an 11-8 lead and after holding Havre scoreless in the sixth, that would be the final score. Jenkins had a game-high three hits in the loss, while Aaron Fuzesy and Kash Keller both added two RBI in defeat. Fuzesy also had a stellar game on the mound, striking out six.

The loss to Spokane meant Havre had no chance to advance to the single elimination tournament and they lost to the Kennewick Nationals 20-1 in the 10U All Stars final game.

The team was coached by Oscar and Brittnee Delarosa and the other players that contributed were Matt Huse, Daxton Oswalt, Brayden Kimberling, Logan Kinsella, Chason Mader, Ezra Pyle, Teegan Solomon and Colter Solomon.
