Sangrey takes over as Stone Child interim president

The Stone Child College Board of Regents selected Cory Sangrey to serve as interim president of the college until a permanent president can be chosen, board Chair Ted Whitford said Wednesday.

Whitford said the regents voted Aug. 8 to make Sangrey, who had been dean of academics at the college, interim president of the Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation tribal college while President Nate St. Pierre was in the last stages of battling cancer.

St. Pierre died Sunday at his residence. The Board  decided to appoint an interim president, because St. Pierre had been out for sometime due to his health, Whitford said.

The opening for president of Stone Child has not yet been advertised, Whitford said.

St. Pierre, 54, took over as president of Stone Child in 2013.
