Mickey was born in Havre June 24, 1936, to Kathryn (Holst) and Gerald Kane. He attended school in Warrick and Chinook. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and served his two years in Auschwitz, Germany. He then returned home and operated the ranch with his father, where he spent his whole life.

Mickey was a big game hunter. His hunts stretched from the Arizona border to the Northwest Territories above Canada and up to the Alaska wilderness. His hunting was done the old way of flying into a remote area with tent and all the supplies along with a guide. After a few days, the pilot would come back for them. Most trips were successful and some weren’t however, his biggest dream was to down a kodiak grizzly and it finally happened. He donated his mounts to the Mint Café and Bar owned by his cousins, Larry and Marie (Sivertsen) Jappe, and they are displayed in the banquet room.

Mickey is survived by his nephew, Mike Kane of Kodiak, Alaska; Mike’s sons, Mitchell and Khyler; sister-in-law, Gwen Kane of Big Sandy; and numerous cousins and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Kathryn Kane, and brothers, Larry and Terry Kane.
