Obituary - Robert "Robbie" Geboe III

Robert “Robbie” Geboe III, 54, passed away Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, at his residence due to natural causes.

Wake services began at 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, and will continue until his funeral which was at 10:30 a.m. today, Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, all at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Robbie was born Aug. 12, 1963, in Casper, Wyoming, to Robert C. and Elsie (Belcourt) Geboe Jr. He was raised in Fort Washakie and Rocky Boy, attending Riverside Indian Boarding School.

Following graduation, Robbie worked for a time. He entered the U.S. Army in 1988, and served until his honorable discharge in 1996, a portion of his service being in Desert Storm and in Desert Shield. He then attended Dull Knife Community College and Montana State University-Northern for a short time.

Robbie married Anna Big Bow in 2003, and the couple made their home in Rocky Boy. Robbie worked hard as a carpenter for the Chippewa Cree Housing Department, Rocky Boy Clinic, and as a private contractor, as well as serving on the firefighter crews for the Chippewa Cree Tribe.

Robbie enjoyed helping others, visiting friends and fishing. He loved his family and coffee, his country music, and working with wood. Robbie was a smart, talented man who spoke both Arapahoe and Cree, wrote children’s books for the Rocky Boy Schools and was an artist, beader and an Indian dancer. He was incredibly helpful, putting up church teepees. Robbie was a member of the Rocky Boy Veterans, and served in Operation Desert Storm.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Elsie Geboe Jr .; his sisters Pamela Geboe and Rhonda Geboe; his brother Thomas Parker, and his niece Alimeda Four Souls.

Robbie is survived by his wife Anna Geboe of Rocky Boy; his daughters, Leah Big Bow (Paul Garcia) of Rocky Boy and Laura Dolby of Pennsylvania; his sons, Brian (Katie) Big Bow and Robert Big Bow, all of Rocky Boy, and Merle (Nicole) Big Bow Jr. of Polson; his thirteen grandchildren; his sisters Jackie Geboe of Sitka, Alaska, Carla Geboe of Rocky Boy, Stacey Geboe of Billings, Sheila Dewey of Vancouver, Washington, and Sherry (Mike) Dewey and Caroline Dewey, all of Arapaho, Wyoming; his brothers, Mike Geboe and Erwin (Luanne) Littleson, all of Rocky Boy, Kermitt Corcoran of Havre, Jerry Dewey of Arapaho, Wyoming, and David Dewey of Riverton, Wyoming; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family and friends.
