Power coming back, streets opening, in Havre

October 2, 2017

Snow bends and breaks trees on Second Avenue today in Havre.

Power was back on or coming back on throughout most - but not all - of Havre by 1 p.m. today, although streets still were blocked due to fallen trees and branches.

An unexpectedly heavy storm - instead of the 3 to 6 inches expected on the plains by the end of the storm National Weather Service says it has reports of 12 inches to 16 inches in Havre and 30 inches in the Bear Paws - blanketed the town, knocking out power as early as about 4 p.m. Monday in some locations. Streets in Havre were closed to all but emergency traffic this morning and schools were closed. The Havre Daily did not publish today.
