Obituary - Algie Piapot

Algie Piapot of Rocky Boy, 74, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017, in Great Falls due to natural causes.

A wake started Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, at 4 p.m. and continued until Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, at 11 a.m. when a service was held, all at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Rocky Boy. Burial was at Rocky Boy Cemetery.

Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements.

Algie was born May 22, 1943, to John Piapot and Bessie Raining Bird in Rocky Boy. He was raised and attended school in Rocky Boy, graduating from Rocky Boy High School in 1961. On June 5, 1965, he married Margaret Flying and the couple had six children whom they raised in Rocky Boy and Missoula.

Algie worked in Forestry for many years and put his degree in natural resources from Stone Child College and University of Montana to use. He was also a well-known artist, creating beautiful works of art.

Algie enjoyed watching TV especially football, "Pawn Star," and James Bond movies. Family was very important to Algie, especially spending time with grand and great-grandchildren; each one received their own nickname from him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Bessie; son Jerod; grandsons Jaron Stump and Jacob Berry; and sisters Carmie and Elaine Chandler.

Algie is survived by his wife, Margaret of Rocky Boy; sons Duane (Joyce) of Harlem and Micah of Rocky Boy; daughters, Andrea Brisbo of Missoula, Wanda (Billy) Berry of Warm Springs, Oregon, Crystal (Myron) Michel of Inchelium, Washington, Darnell (Matthew) Converse of Havre and Jacinda (Jacob Burns) Four Colors of Box Elder; brothers, Kenny of Havre, Larry and Russell (Theresa) all of Rocky Boy; sisters Barbara (Joe) Dubois of Box Elder and Selena Valdez of Havre; 21 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
