Plain Green, tribal organizations donate school supplies

Press release

An online lending company at Rocky Boy's Indian Reservation has joined organizations of the Chippewa Cree Tribe in donating back to the community and to the future.

Plain Green and tribal members and organizations have held three events to distribute supplies to students.

Backpacks filled with school supplies were distributed to students at Rocky Boy High School Oct. 2, and additional back-to-school celebrations and school supply donation events were hosted Oct. 16 at Box Elder School and Oct.19 at Stone Child College.

The Chippewa Cree Tribal Business Committee and other local, community leaders donated backpacks, paper, pens, notebooks and other school supplies for grades K-12 in Rocky Boys and Box Elder schools.

Among this year's partnering agencies are IReponse, Chippewa Cree Tribal Roads Department, Chippewa Cree Housing Authority, Chippewa Cree Forestry and Plain Green Loans.

"These school supply donations were well-received by the community and that's the reason tribal leaders and organizations have joined together," said Jay Abbasi, chief executive officer of Plain Green. "We understand the importance of education and are committed to helping the community youth and students to achieve their educational goals."
