Big Sandy's Kade Strutz runs past the Augusta defense during a Six-Man North Division football game last Wednesday in Big Sandy. With their victory over the Elks, the Pioneers clinched second place in the North and will host Richey-Lambert in the first round of the playoffs this Saturday.

Going into last Wednesday's game with Augusta, the Big Sandy Pioneers had their first chance at clinching a spot in the Six-Man playoffs for the first time in five years. And Big Sandy was determined not to let the Elks stand in its way.

The Pioneers, who beat Geraldine/Highwood the week before, easily dismissed the Elks 43-6 last Wednesday at home, clinching a berth in the playoffs. What made things even better for the 7-2 Pioneers, was that with Valier's win over Power-Dutton-Brady Saturday, Big Sandy clinched the second seed in the Six-Man North, which means a home playoff game.
