MSU-N harriers finish the regular season strong

The Montana State University-Northern cross country teams had one last chance to gear up for the upcoming Frontier Conference Championships. And that chance came last Friday in Great Falls.

The Lights and Skylights took part in the University of Providence Open Friday, with the Northern men finishing fifth out of six teams with a score of 119, while the Skylights placed sixth with a 148.

Luke Karnauskas paced the Lights with a stellar 16th-place finish, coming across the line in 27:25.3. Freshman Kai Krumweide added a 21st-place finish for the Lights in 27:52.9, while Amos Taiswa was 26th (28:10.7) and Beau Hyatt was 35th (29:40.0).

On the women's side, Ashley McCready led the Skylights, finishing in 26th place. She finished the race in 20:33.1. Rachel David was 28th for Northern with a 20:45.5, while Nicole Parsons was 36th with a 22:10.5. McKenna Barkus finished 38th (23"02.7), Courtney Cota placed 40th (23:12.6) and Breck Don was 43rd (24:08.9).

The Northern cross country teams, of head coach Chad Spangler, will now prepare for the Frontier Conference Championships, which will be run Nov. 3 in Lewiston, Idaho.
