Bear Paw Veterinary Clinic saluted Certified Veterinary Technician Shandell Sando last week, National Veterinary Technician Week.

"This is a week to thank veterinary technicians for the awesome care they provide for our pets," the clinic said in a release, adding that a veterinary technician works closely with the veterinarian to provide a high level of care to animals. Sando has been a certified veterinary technician for two years, graduating from Penn Foster and passing the National Exam for certified veterinary

technicians in August 2015. She has been in the veterinary field for six years.

The schooling required to become certified in veterinary

technology is very demanding and requires a person to be very precise and focused, the clinic said.

Sando is caring, knowledgeable and very personable, the release said. Her degree allows her to provide clients with an array of services including exams, nutritional guidance, bandage applications, nursing care, laboratory testing, dental care, and treatments just to name a few. Her concern for patients as well as their owners is superb, the release said.

In her spare time, Sando enjoys spending time with family, friends and her critters; as well as horseback riding, exploring and relaxing when possible, the release said. She is also a member of the Big Sky Veterinary Technician Association.
