Boys & Girls Club holds Red Ribbon Week activities

Celebrated each year to promote drug-, tobacco- and alcohol-free lifestyies

From Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Line and Havre HELP Committee

Red Ribbon Week kicked off Monday at the Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Line with a fun and informative assembly.

More than 135 Club-Kids attended the assembly which included live skits and video that teach that tobacco comes in many forms: from cigarettes to spit tobacco to electronic vaping pens - e-cigarettes - and that each of these products poses a threat to one's health.

The kids learned a rap-styled "NO THANKS!" chant to refuse tobacco products whenever they are offered to them.

These club members also signed a pledge certificate promising to themselves and to their loved ones that they will always live a tobacco-free lifestyle and will always encourage others to do the same. The kids received a "Proud to be Tobacco-Free" neck tag to remind them of the pledge they have taken to lead a safer and healthier life.

Red Ribbon Week is celebrated nationwide in October each year and promotes drug-, tobacco- and alcohol-free lifestyles for youth and adults.
